Current position: 2010. PhD Researcher at CCMAR/CIMAR associated Laboratory and Invited Professor FCMA/FCT University of Algarve. Background: 2000. PhD in Fisheries Biology at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Environment of the University of the Algarve, with a thesis on the biology, population dynamics, management and conservation of sparid fish. 1991. Graduate University Degree (Licenciatura – 5 year degree with honours thesis) in Marine Biology and Fisheries in the UCTRA – University of Algarve.
Current Research Interests My research focus is on mapping of marine biodiversity and seabed habitats for coastal management purposes. However, all my past research had to do with fisheries ecology, mainly on the impacts of fishing gears in the marine environment (e.g. discards) and the role of estuaries and coastal lagoons for fisheries recruitment.
