Afonso, C. M. L. e Tenório, M. J. (2004). Description of a new species of Conus from the Cape Verde Archipelago (Gastropoda, Conidae). La Conchiglia, 310: 33-40. Conus atlanticoselvagem n. sp., a new species of Conidae from the João Valente Bank, an offshore submerged mount 30 miles SW of Boavista Island, Cape Verde, is described. The most immediate distinctive features of the shell of the new species are: light pink-violet background color; vivid pink-violet color of the aperture and columella; pattern composed of golden brown to purplish brown blotches arranged in three spiral bands; spire domed, mamillated, with pinkish protoconch, patterned with golden brown flecks. Details on the radula are also discussed. This species is compared to other members of the Conus venulatus complex.
