Os seus atuais interesses de investigação estão relacionados com modelação avançada de dados de pesca, sobretudo com análise de dados não-independentes e inflacionados de zeros, que é o caso da maioria das espécies acessórias nas pescarias de palangre. Desde 2010 é responsável por analisar dados do Instituto Português de Investigação Marinha relativos a pescarias de palangre de superfície, para serem apresentados à ICCAT (Oceano Atlântico) e IOTC (Oceano Indico). Tem trabalhado sobretudo com espécies acessórias (tubarões e tartarugas marinhas) e em menor escala com espécies alvo (espadarte e atuns). Durante a ultima década participou em vários Projetos com financiamento Nacional e Europeu, publicou mais de 35 artigos científicos em revistas internacionais, apresentou mais de 60 comunicações orais e posters durante conferencias científicas, e reviu 29 manuscritos submetidos para publicação em 16 revistas científicas diferentes..
